Becoming Believers
A book for Christians by T.S. Bigbee
1 WELCOME
This book is just an introduction. Every single chapter could be a book unto itself. I encourage you to study the scripture in each chapter that inspires, irritates, or otherwise elicits a response from you to find out what’s true according to God. One book written by me cannot be everything, but one book written by the Holy Spirit is everything. So go to that book, friends.
You have picked up this book because you want to know more about believing God. Which is 90% of what is required in becoming a believer; well played, you! This book was inspired by the transformation that happened in my own life when I chose to not just believe in God, but to BELEIVE God.
For the sake of conversation, we must establish a few definitions. Currently in Christendom the words “Christian” and “Believer” are synonymous, so for the sake of clarity throughout these chapters I assign a definition to each:
Christian = any and every person who is born again regardless of where they are in their faith walk. As defined by Romans 10:9-10, anyone who speaks with their mouth that Jesus is God and believes in their heart that God raised Him from the dead.
Believer = a Christian who is on a journey to believe every Word God has said to its fullest regardless of what they see, hear, or experience from the natural world around them.
The moment a human being makes the decision to believe Jesus there is a dramatic change in the spirit. That human spirit comes ALIVE! I can only imagine the atomic burst of powerful light that happens at that moment as the same power that raised Jesus from the dead raises a human spirit! At that moment, the human spirit is resurrected just like Jesus; devoid of all impurity and ready to house the love and power of God! The born again spirit is full to overflowing with everything of God and His loving power – every fruit of the spirit to the max because that spirit has been resurrected as Jesus was resurrected and united with God like Jesus is one with God.
I can hear it. “That can’t be true because I am weak and powerless, and I’m definitely not free of sin in my life.” That describes the soul: the mind, will, and emotions. The soul does NOT get born again with the spirit, which means that all the thoughts, desires, and feelings we have before the moment of salvation are exactly the same the moment after. The transformation has occurred in the spirit, not in the soul. It is the born-again life mission to eclipse the soul with the spirit by renewing the mind with the truth of God. And THAT’S what this book is all about.
Every Christian has a choice. To be born again but un-renewed, or to continually dig deeper into BELIEVING God. The choice either way does not move one up or down in God’s favor. Please hear this clearly – a Christian can choose to never change one tiny thing about the soul after salvation and God will still be as pleased as He is ever going to be with them.
But you who are reading this book: you want more.
Choosing to continuously press deeper into BELIEVING GOD impacts this natural realm experience. It will bring intimate knowledge of God’s character, deeper peace, greater provision, amazing signs and wonders, and life-changing joy that will completely transform life in this realm and will impact the lives of others.
It is simple, but it’s not easy. Sacred cows will have to be sacrificed. Old thoughts and wrong teaching will be challenged and have to be changed. The discipline of the soul to submit to the spirit takes training of attention. The good news is that God is a really good Dad who never leaves His kids to do hard things on their own, but gave His Holy Spirit to do the “doing” of the hard things; all it takes from the believer is the choice to believe God even when the soul says it’s hard.
This book explores God’s character to know that He is good and trustworthy, it explores who we are when we are resurrected in spirit, and it explores what holds us back from realizing and experiencing those two things in this realm. It explores how to manage the spirit, soul, and body. We will talk about the fact that our own thoughts are our biggest obstacle and what to do about it. Lies from the world and from the church will be called out. The previously accepted ideas about what’s our job and what’s God’s job will be questioned, along with what’s within our authority and power. The question of why we do not get the same results as Jesus will be bravely faced. Every chapter will come down to renewing the soul to the True identity as righteous spirits, unified with The Anointed One to be as Jesus is in the natural world.
If that is what you want, high five and read on.
